A method for producing a membrane electrode assembly is provided. [Solution] The method for producing a membrane / electrode assembly according to the present invention includes a step of immersing an aromatic polymer electrolyte membrane in a solvent, and the solvent contained in the electrolyte membrane after immersion in a range of 20 to 60% by weight.
