abstract | 【Task】 It is possible to obtain a high-performance membrane electrode assembly by improving the bonding strength between the electrolyte membrane and the catalyst layer without subjecting the surface of the aromatic solid polymer electrolyte membrane to softening treatment by heating. A method for producing a membrane electrode assembly is provided. [Solution] The method for producing a membrane electrode assembly according to the present invention opposes a support in a solid polymer electrolyte membrane formed by casting a solution containing an aromatic polymer electrolyte on a support and removing the solvent. A step of forming a first catalyst layer by applying a catalyst paste containing a catalyst-supporting carbon, an aromatic polymer electrolyte, a pore-increasing agent and a solvent to the surface and drying; and peeling the support to support And a step of forming a second catalyst layer by applying and drying a catalyst paste on a surface of the electrolyte membrane that has been peeled off, facing the first catalyst layer.
