abstract | The present invention provides a method for producing a film comprising a fumaric acid diester polymer and having excellent transparency, surface smoothness, thickness accuracy, and mechanical strength. When producing a film by a solution casting method in which a polymer solution comprising a fumaric acid diester polymer and an organic solvent is cast on a support substrate and the solvent is evaporated from a cast film containing the solvent, the organic solvent is produced. The solvent is a mixed solvent composed of 95% to 5% by weight of an aromatic solvent and 5% to 95% by weight of a non-aromatic solvent, and the polymer solution has a polymer concentration of 15% to 50% by weight.
