A green pigment composition for a color filter capable of realizing high contrast in a green pixel portion of a color filter, and a color filter exhibiting high contrast in the green pixel portion. A green pigment composition for a color filter in which a copper halide phthalocyanine pigment whose primary particles have an average particle diameter of 0.01 to 0.1 μm and an aspect ratio of 1 to 3 is surface-treated with a phosphate ester-based surfactant. A green pigment composition for a color filter, preferably obtained by heating and drying an aqueous dispersion in which the copper halide phthalocyanine pigment is dispersed in an aqueous medium containing a phosphate ester surfactant and water, and A color filter using the green pigment composition in a green pixel portion.
