abstract |
A method for producing alkylene carbonate using an ionic liquid as a reaction medium is provided. An ionic liquid (imidazole salt-based ionic liquid, pyridinium salt-based ionic liquid, onium salt-based ionic liquid, or the like) is used as a reaction medium, optionally in the presence of alkali, with halogen in the molecule. A process for producing an alkylene carbonate comprising producing an alkylene carbonate by reacting a substrate compound having a hydroxyl group with carbon dioxide. [Effect] Since safe carbon dioxide is used as a raw material and various halogenoalcohols are used at a low price, it is possible to provide a new production technique of alkylene carbonate which is environmentally friendly and can reduce the production cost.
