abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a gasket material and a method for manufacturing the same, which take advantage of the properties of a gasket material coated with a layer of a compressible material and further improve the sealing performance and heat resistance. SOLUTION: A metal plate 1, a base fiber composed of a compressible inorganic fiber other than asbestos and a compressible organic fiber, a rubber material, a rubber chemical, and an inorganic filler, and a heat resistant adhesive on the surface of the metal plate. 2 is a gasket material A comprising a rubber compound layer 3 that is integrally bonded through 2 and a foamed graphite layer 4 that is deposited on the surface of the rubber compound layer. It consists of particles and a binder for fixing the graphite particles in the layer, and the binder contains a large number of closed cells. [Selection] Figure 1
