abstract | An image forming apparatus and an image forming method capable of suppressing a rise in residual potential in repeated use of a photoreceptor and capable of forming a highly durable and high-definition image. An image forming apparatus including at least an electrostatic latent image carrier, an electrostatic latent image forming unit, a developing unit, a transfer unit, a fixing unit, and a charge eliminating unit, wherein the charge eliminating unit has a thickness of 500 nm or more. The electrostatic latent image carrier is a photosensitive member comprising a support, a charge generation layer containing at least an organic charge generation material on the support, and a charge transport layer. An image forming apparatus comprising: a charge transport layer containing at least a charge transport material represented by the following formula (I): {In the formula, Ar 1 and Ar 3 represent an aromatic ring group which may have a substituent, and Ar 2 represents an aromatic ring group which may have a substituent.
