abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photothermographic material capable of obtaining a high quality image having excellent surface film characteristics and excellent sharpness, and an image forming method using the same. An image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder and an image forming layer of the support are provided on at least one surface of the support. A photothermographic material having a non-photosensitive outermost layer on the surface side, 1) The outermost layer contains at least a copolymer made from monomers represented by the following (M1) and (M2), and 2) Photothermographic material, wherein the maximum surface roughness (Rt) on the image forming layer side is 1.5 μm or less: Monomer (M1): a monomer having a salt or a salt-forming group or a polyalkylene oxide group and having an unsaturated bond capable of radical polymerization; Monomer (M2): A monomer having an unsaturated bond containing a fluorine atom and capable of radical polymerization.
