A pyrroloquinoline quinone-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (PQQGDH) with improved substrate specificity is provided. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] By modifying a gene of pyrroloquinoline quinone-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (PQQGDH) derived from Acinetobacter genus, modified PQQGDH having reduced activity on disaccharides (maltose) as compared with the wild-type enzyme was obtained.
