abstract |
An instrument (10) for accessing a body cavity composed of a tubular member (11) having a contracted shape that facilitates observation inside the body cavity is provided. The instrument is formed by reversing the length of the material to itself to form a tube having a single peripheral seam at the distal end, and inserting the tubular member (11) into the body cavity in a contracted insertion configuration An expansion tube (13) with sufficient hardness to help. The tubular member further preferably includes a torsional contact area pattern (22) configured to avoid the creation of longitudinal features that bend when loaded. This ensures that the tubular member (11) provides a substantially circular central lumen (18). |
