abstract A multi-purpose coronary guide catheter device (10) and method of use are provided. The device includes a guide catheter, an anchor shaft (14), and a sleeve (16). In one embodiment, the anchor shaft can be moved relative to the catheter body and is defined by the portion of the anchor shaft and the portion of the catheter body that is between the distal end of the sleeve and the hinge point (34). Loop (40) is formed. Optionally, the proximal end portion of the anchor shaft includes locking means for securing the anchor shaft in one or more positions along the catheter body, either expanded or retracted.
