Described herein are novel intracellular estradiol binding proteins ("IEBPs"), as well as polynucleotides encoding the proteins, and various cells and cell lines that produce and / or overexpress the proteins. IEBP is thought to play a role in the regulation of estrogen signaling and in physiological resistance to estrogen. Thus, an abnormal increase or decrease in IEBP levels can be a component of the pathogenesis of diseases (eg, breast cancer and osteoporosis) that are largely correlated with estrogen signaling. Various embodiments of the present invention, for example, to develop treatments for these conditions by providing means for screening therapeutic compounds and by identifying gene targets for therapy. It is considered to provide an important tool. |
