Human blood protein is produced at a high rate in monocotyledonous seeds. A monocotyledonous plant cell is transformed with a chimeric gene, and the monocotyledonous plant from the transformed monocotyledonous cell is transformed into a sufficient time for seeds containing human blood protein to be produced. Grow and harvest seeds from plants. The resulting human blood protein constitutes at least about 3.0% of the total soluble protein in the harvested seed. |
