titleOfInvention High strength black polyurethane foam
abstract Provided is a black polyurethane foam that exhibits higher intensity black coloration without the need for increased attendant in the black colorant. Such resulting black-black foam articles are made possible through unexpectedly effective introduction of small amounts of certain toner compounds or combinations that exhibit particularly measurable appearance characteristics. Such toners exhibit at least one absorption peak within a specific wavelength region (eg, about 560-610 nm) and a specific half-height bandwidth region (40-130 nm). Furthermore, such compounds or combinations of compounds are preferably essentially in liquid or dispersed form (at room temperature) and are either black pigments (or dispersions thereof), black polymeric pigments (liquids), or Mixing with both can be easily introduced into the desired polyurethane precursor composition. As described above, methods for producing high-strength black polyurethane foam, as well as pigment formulations for such types including the necessary toner compounds and combinations, and methods for producing liquid polymeric colored foam pigments are also within the scope of the present invention.
