The present invention provides biodegradable implants for treating sinusitis. The biodegradable implant has a size, shape, density, viscosity and / or mucoadhesive properties that prevent it from being substantially removed by the inner layer of the sinus mucociliary body during the intended treatment period. The biodegradable implant comprises a sustained release therapeutic agent (eg, an antibiotic, a steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, or both). The biodegradable implant can take a variety of shapes such as rods, pellets, beads, strips or microparticles and can be delivered into the sinus in a variety of pharmaceutically acceptable carriers. |
