titleOfInvention | An interface that allows a spatial resolution current to flow selectively to multiple neurons in a biological neural network |
abstract | The present invention provides an interface that allows a current to flow selectively through a plurality of nerve cells in a biological neural network. The interface according to the present invention includes a cell membrane, and a number of channels penetrating the cell membrane are formed in the cell membrane. An electrode is disposed inside each channel. Nerve cells in the living neural network grow or move into the channel, and as a result, are close to the electrodes. As nerve cells grow or move into the channel, the voltage applied to the electrodes in the channel selectively stimulates the nerve cells in the channel. Nerve cell stimuli are then transmitted through neural networks (ie, cells and axons) that connect with the nerve cells of the channel. |
