Method for inducing differentiation of embryonic stem cells and use thereof |
abstract |
The present invention provides a method for inducing differentiation of embryonic stem cells into differentiated neurons. The present invention further provides methods for generating differentiated neurons and a population of cells comprising differentiated neurons. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method of repopulating the spinal cord in a subject and a method of treating neural tissue degeneration in a subject in need of treatment. The present invention further provides neural progenitor cells, differentiated neural cells, and uses thereof. Also provided are transgenic non-human animals comprising differentiated neural cells. The present invention is further directed to a method of isolating a population of differentiated neurons. Finally, the present invention provides a method for identifying agents for use in the treatment of conditions associated with neuronal degeneration. |
