The present invention relates to veterinary compositions for the prevention and treatment of mammalian mastitis. More particularly, the present invention relates to the treatment of mastitis in cows. The formulations of the present invention generally comprise two parts that are administered to an animal as two separate formulations. The first part is a seal formulation comprising a gel base and a non-toxic heavy metal salt in the base. The second part of the formulation is, for example, an oil-based product that can contain antibiotics in an oil-based formulation. However, oil-based formulations can contain any pharmaceutically active substance for the treatment or prevention of bovine diseases. |
