Bidirectional and multiaxial fabrics, fabric composites, their ballistic assemblies, and methods of making them. The fabric is strong and substantially rotating on an angle with respect to the direction of the yarn in an adjacent plane, with the direction of the yarn in a given plane being in a parallel plane, one on top of the other A set of unidirectional yarns parallel to each other; and one or more sets of yarns with lower strength and higher elongation intervening strong yarns. The fabric of the present invention provides superior ballistic effectiveness compared to normal woven and knitted fabrics, but retains ease of manufacture on conventional looms and knitting machines. |
