abstract | A modified saccharide compound for treating cancer, reducing toxicity and inhibiting metastasis and its use in combination with at least one anticancer agent are described. Modified sugars are esterified at 5% or less and contain a sugar backbone with repeat sites. Each repeating site has a plurality of uronic acid molecules linked to at least one neutral monosaccharide, and at least one saccharide side chain linked to the backbone contains a plurality of neutral saccharides or saccharide derivatives. And the modified polysaccharide has an average molecular weight of 15 kD to 60 kD. The polysaccharide used in combination with the chemotherapeutic agent acts as a carrier, improving the effect of the chemotherapeutic agent while reducing side effects. |
