titleOfInvention | Method for producing titanium dioxide slurry from micronizer exhaust |
abstract | An improved method for producing titanium dioxide slurry. The product from the micronizer is passed through a cooler to condense the vapor and form an aqueous slurry of titanium dioxide. Instead of passing the micronizer product through an apparatus for separating TiO 2 from steam as is currently practiced in the industry, the slurry is then most often further concentrated as desired. It can be sold or used without further concentration. The slurry obtained from the cooler is fed to a stirred storage tank along with dispersants and anti-settling compounds that help prevent titanium dioxide solids from separating and settling from the slurry in further purification. In order to facilitate condensation of the vapor / pigment mixture, a portion of the condensed slurry is pumped from the slurry storage tank to a heat exchanger in a more advanced purification. The product from the heat exchanger is then fed to the cooler to facilitate condensation of the vapor in the cooler. The temperature and volume (flow rate) of the cooled condensate towards the cooler is adjusted so that the vapor and its temperature are collected so that substantially all of the steam and the pigments contained are collected from the cooler. |
