titleOfInvention | Method and system for extending lubricating oil life in internal combustion EGR systems |
abstract | An apparatus and method for extending the effective lubricating oil life in a diesel engine equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The EGR system consists of chemical filters placed in a relatively higher humidity region either in the EGR flow or near the intake manifold. In some cases, it is preferable to place chemical filters at both positions. This device would also be used in combination with a chemical filter located in the lubricant recirculation system. This provides a synergistic effect that exceeds the individual effects of both components. |
