Recovery of metals from sulfide-based materials |
abstract |
The process for recovering the noble metal from the sulfide-based material includes the step of oxidizing the sulfide-based material and preparing an aqueous acid halide solution having an oxidation potential sufficient to render the noble metal soluble in the solution; Adding the acid halide aqueous solution to oxidize the sulfide-based material to solubilize the noble metal; and separating the noble metal from the oxidized sulfide-based material. In addition, the process for removing contaminants from contaminated sulfide-based materials involves mixing the materials in an aqueous solution (where a relatively high oxidation state polyvalent species Oxidizes it to make it soluble in the solution, resulting in a pollutant purification material, which is reduced to a relatively low oxidation state); and removes contaminants from the solution while making the polyvalent species its relatively high Regenerating to an oxidized state. |
