abstract | An improved water-based ready-to-use iodine nipple soaking composition is provided. This composition is specially manufactured so that the cow's nipple does not freeze during the winter, while at the same time providing a reasonable bactericidal activity. The compound is about 0.01-2% by weight iodine, 0.01-3% by weight iodide ion, 35-75% by weight admixture with glycerin and the total weight of the composition. Selected from the group consisting of polyhydric alcohols different from at least about 10% by weight of glycerin and one or more C2-C7 glycerin, each containing at least two hydroxyl groups In addition, when propylene glycol is one of the polyhydric alcohols, 45% by weight or less of the composition contains propylene glycol. Preferably, the composition has a free iodine value of about 1-60 ppm at 25 ° C and about 0.5-20 ppm at 4 ° C. |
