abstract |
(i) combining a first solution comprising a substantially water insoluble substance in an organic solvent miscible with water with (ii) an aqueous phase comprising water and optionally a stabilizer to produce an amorphous Forming a dispersion of particulates; and (iii) sonicating the dispersion of amorphous particulates for a time sufficient to form crystalline nano-particulates of a substantially water insoluble material. A method for preparing a dispersion of crystalline nano-fine particles in an aqueous medium. The method provides nano-crystals with an average hydrodynamic diameter of less than 1 micron, in particular less than 300 nm, and is particularly useful for the preparation of nano-crystalline dispersions of pharmaceutical substances. |
