| abstract |
A device comprising a die (12) having at least one application slot (48). The slot is in fluid communication with the die cavity (44). An inflatable chamber device (42) is disposed within the die cavity and changes volume in response to changes in pressure within the inflatable chamber device. Another aspect of the invention is a method for translating liquid through a die. Prepare a coating die. The die includes at least one applicator slot in fluid communication with the die cavity. An inflatable chamber device is placed in the cavity. A change in fluid pressure within the inflatable chamber apparatus activates the inflatable chamber apparatus. In response to actuation of the inflatable chamber device, liquid is periodically translated through the die and delivered from the application slot. Another aspect of the invention is a method of forming a die. An apparatus is provided that includes a die having at least one applicator slot in fluid communication with the die cavity. An inflatable chamber device is placed in the die cavity. |
