The present invention relates to methods and reagents useful for modulating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) gene expression in various applications, such as therapeutic, diagnostic, target assessment and genome discovery applications. Specifically, the present invention relates to small nucleic acid molecules capable of mediating RNA interference (RNAi) on HIV gene expression and / or activity, such as short interfering nucleic acids (siNA), short interfering RNA (siRNA), double stranded RNA. (DsRNA), microRNA (miRNA), and short hairpin RNA (shRNA) molecules. Small nucleic acid molecules are useful in the treatment of HIV infection, AIDS, and any other disease or condition that responds to modulation of HIV expression or activity. |
