abstract |
The present invention includes methods and compositions for treating animals to control the incidence and growth of E. coli O157: H7 and other pathogens. The method of treatment involves providing the animal with a therapeutically effective amount of one or a combination of Lactobacillus acidophilus or many other functional bacteria. An alternative method of treatment involves administering a therapeutically effective amount of a lactic acid producing bacterium such as Lactobacillus acidophilus in combination with a lactate-utilizing bacterium such as Propionibacterium freudenreichii. |
