Integrity expansion method and apparatus for implantable sensor devices |
abstract |
Method and apparatus for extending integrity in an implantable sensor. The void formed between the outer tube and the sensor substrate or the spacing element is filled with an embeddable curable material, thereby minimizing the diffusion amount of unnecessary fluid in the sensor. Pretreatment of the enzyme or protein matrix pellets under the sensor window with a reducing agent increases the stability of the bonding and reduces unnecessary expansion that can cause dropout or leakage in the sensor window. The bonding between the enzyme pellet and the hydrogel layer is reinforced by introducing a bonding layer, for example, a protein material layer such as HSA (human serum albumin) between the enzyme pellet and the hydrogel layer. Minimizing the size of the underlying electrode minimizes the size of the window, reduces flux and lengthens the sensor. A coating is grown on the surface of the sensor lead to provide stiffness and lubricity. |
