titleOfInvention Vector for producing angiosperm transgenic plants
abstract A DNA vector for stably inserting and expressing a heterologous gene in the plastid genome of any angiosperm cell is provided. In this vector, a foreign gene can be inserted into a multiple cloning site located in an artificial intergenic region obtained from a combination of atpB operon and rbcL operon belonging to different classes of plants (dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous plants). The expression cassette is inserted into the plastid genome by homologous recombination between the atpB and rbcL border sequences of the vector and the corresponding homologous region of the plastid genome. By this method, two or more types of genes of interest can be expressed under the transcriptional control of the rbcL promoter adjacent to the border region encoding the atpB gene.
