PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent magnetic recording medium that maintains a high S / N ratio that achieves an excellent surface recording density and that has low dropout and low error rate. A magnetic recording medium having a nonmagnetic layer in which a nonmagnetic powder is dispersed in a binder and a magnetic layer in which a ferromagnetic powder is dispersed in a binder on at least one surface of the nonmagnetic support in this order. The nonmagnetic support has a crystallinity of 40% or more and 60% or less, a rigid amorphous amount of 20% or more and 60% or less, and at least the nonmagnetic support and the nonmagnetic layer. A magnetic recording medium comprising a reinforcing layer made of a material selected from the group consisting of metals, metalloids and alloys and oxides and composites thereof. |
