abstract A material excellent in hole injecting property and hole transporting property, and a light emitting element and a light emitting device using the material are provided. A carbazole derivative represented by the general formula (1) is used. The carbazole derivative is excellent in hole injecting property, and the driving voltage can be reduced by using it as a hole injecting material for the hole injecting layer of the light-emitting element. In addition, by applying this substance to a light-emitting element and a light-emitting device, reduction in driving voltage, improvement in light emission efficiency, longer life, and improvement in reliability can be realized.
