abstract The present invention provides a twisted yarn as a fiber structure useful as a substrate for culturing cells, and a method for producing the same. A twisted yarn comprising two or more types of filaments mainly composed of biodegradable organic polymers and having the following requirements (a) and (b). Requirement (a): The average fiber diameter of the filament is 5 μm or less. Requirement (b): Filaments having a fiber diameter of 10 μm or more are not substantially contained. Furthermore, requirement (c): It is preferable that the existence ratio of two or more types of filaments having different compositions forms an inclined structure from the center of the twisted yarn toward the outside.
