abstract A refrigeration cycle apparatus that effectively removes iron chloride, fatty acid compounds, and high molecular weight oil from a refrigerant circuit to improve reliability, and an operation method thereof are proposed. An outdoor unit having a compressor and an outdoor heat exchanger and an indoor unit having an indoor heat exchanger are connected, and the compressor, the outdoor heat exchanger, and the indoor heat exchanger are connected to each other by piping. A refrigerant circuit for a cycle is configured, and the refrigerant circuit has a shape that covers a first cross-sectional area smaller than the first net filter 1 that captures solid foreign substances and the first net filter 1. A refrigeration cycle apparatus comprising a composite filter 100 comprising a combination of a second net filter 2 having an iron compound or fine solid foreign matter and a magnet 3 disposed in proximity to the second net filter 2.
