abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool in which a hard coating film including a titanium carbonitride film made of columnar titanium carbonitride is formed on a surface of a base material, such as high-speed / high-feed cutting, heavy cutting, intermittent cutting, etc. Even if it applies, it will prevent that a base material and a hard coating film peel, and aim at lifetime improvement. SOLUTION: A nitridation that grows in the film thickness direction from the surface of a substrate 2 in a crystal structure composed of fine titanium nitride particles 11 between the substrate 2 and a columnar titanium carbonitride film composed of columnar titanium carbonitride 9.
