Preferably, the recording layer of an optical recording medium comprising a 5,10,15,20-tetraarylporphyrin compound having four aryl groups having two or more substituted ketooxy groups, represented by general formula [I] Dye for formation. Embedded image (In the formula [I], R 1 to R 4 each independently represents an organic group having 16 or less carbon atoms which may have a substituent, and R 5 to R 8 each independently have a substituent. R 9 to R 16 each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, M represents a hydrogen atom or a metal ion having a valence of 2 or more, and subscripts k, l, m. , N represents an integer of 2 or more and 5 or less.)
