abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous ink composition having good ejection stability in ink jet recording and the like and excellent storage stability. An aqueous ink composition containing at least two kinds of surface-treated pigments as a colorant, wherein the two kinds of surface-treated pigments are introduced directly or via a polyvalent group into the pigment surface. The surface-treated pigment is a surface-treated pigment in which the functional group introduced on the pigment surface is a hydroxyl group, and the functional group introduced on the pigment surface is a carboxyl group.
