abstract | The present invention provides a method for producing xylooligosaccharide that simplifies the process of purifying a crude liquid containing xylooligosaccharide and that can provide a sugar liquid with a high degree of purification. In particular, the present invention provides a method for producing xylooligosaccharides that can easily and efficiently remove nonionic impurities that are difficult to remove effectively by treatment with an ion exchange resin. [Means for Solving the Problems] By irradiating the crude liquid containing xylooligosaccharide with ultraviolet rays, the ester compound contained as an impurity in the crude liquid is decomposed into an acid and an alcohol that can be easily removed.
