abstract A script-driven software tool application is processed in parallel. A parallel calculation specification is generated by automatically analyzing a script in a software tool description language and adding a “script fragment 4” set. These combinations are equivalent to the original script. By executing the calculation specification including the script fragment 4 in the parallel runtime system 5, multiple instances of the original software tool 6 and / or the auxiliary program 7 are processed in parallel. Result processing reads input data, generates output data 9, and performs the same calculation as the original script. The analyzer, runtime, original software tool and auxiliary program combination produces output data similar to the original software tool alone for a given script and input data, but is processed by using multiple processors in parallel.
