abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel sulfur atom-containing cyclic compound, a production method thereof, and a crosslinkable composition which contain sulfur atoms at a high density and are therefore useful as an optical material. A sulfur atom-containing cyclic compound is represented by the following general formula (1). Moreover, the manufacturing method of a sulfur atom containing cyclic compound is characterized by obtaining said sulfur atom containing cyclic compound by making a specific cyclic thioester and a specific sulfide compound react. The crosslinkable composition contains a sulfur atom-containing cyclic compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a photoradical polymerization initiator. [Wherein R 1 is CH 2 ═CHCOO—R 2 — or CH 2 ═CCH 3 COO—R 2 — (wherein R 2 represents a methylene group or an alkylene group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms).
