Provided are an endothelialization inhibitor and its use for inhibiting angiogenesis. Endothelial inhibitors are proteins isolated from blood or urine and eluted as a single peak from the high-performance liquid chromatography C4 reverse phase, as measured by reducing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Angiostatin comprising a protein having a molecular weight of 38 kilodaltons to 45 kilodaltons and having an amino acid sequence very similar to the murine plasminogen fragment beginning at amino acid number 98 of the murine plasminogen molecule.
