abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which further improves the cleaning property of a photoreceptor surface and the effect of preventing filming and forms a high-definition and high-definition image. By performing an optimum lubricant application operation according to the image area (the amount of toner input to the cleaning unit), the rubbing property of the lubricant 17b and the lubricant applicability to the photoconductor 11 are improved. Specifically, in order to prevent filming and white spots from occurring on the photoconductor 11, the consumption amount of the lubricant 17b is required to be 0.1 g or more at a photoconductor travel distance of 1500 m, and black streaks due to contamination of the charging roller 14a are required. In order to prevent the occurrence, it is necessary to be 1.2 g or less at a traveling distance of 1500 m.
