A method for synthesizing 1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene suitable for production on an industrial scale is provided. The 1,1,3,3,3 intended for dehydrochlorination reaction is obtained by contacting 3-chloro-1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane with activated carbon in the gas phase. -Pentafluoropropene can be obtained efficiently. This dehydrochlorination reaction can be carried out usually at a reaction temperature of 200 ° C. to 350 ° C. and a contact time of 1 second to 300 seconds with activated carbon, and particularly at a reaction temperature of 220 ° C. to 320 ° C. and a contact time of activated carbon of 20 seconds to 150 seconds.
