abstract A higher density memory is realized by an economical method. A dynamic random access memory according to the present invention includes a plurality of independent arrays of memory cells, wherein the plurality of independent arrays are arranged in rows and columns to form a plurality of array blocks, and a plurality of sense amplifiers. A plurality of memory cells, a plurality of peripheral devices for writing and reading information, a logic for generating redundant signals for controlling the plurality of peripheral devices, a power source, and a plurality of pads. Only the first and second layers of metal conductors provide interconnections between multiple memory cells, multiple peripheral devices, logic, power supplies, and multiple pads, and redundant signals are routed through sense amplifiers.
