SOLUTION: Thioredoxin and thioredoxin reductase were isolated from a hyperthermophilic archaeon Pyrococcus horikoshii OT3 strain that can grow at a high temperature of 90 to 100 ° C., and the amino acid sequence and DNA sequence were determined. These proteins or enzymes are proteins or enzymes that are extremely excellent in heat resistance and that do not substantially decrease in activity even when heat-treated at 100 ° C. for 0.5 hours. Since the thioredoxin of the present invention has high heat resistance, it can react efficiently at high temperatures, and can be sterilized by heating when added to pharmaceuticals, foods, cosmetics and the like.
