PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new microorganism containing an enzyme capable of converting D-psicose to D-talitol. To produce a large amount of D-talitol at low cost. SOLUTION: In a method for producing D-talitol, which is obtained by bringing a microorganism into contact with D-psicose as a raw material to convert it into D-talitol, a microorganism of a zygomycete having the ability to convert D-psicose into D-talitol as the microorganism. A method for producing D-talitol using a strain belonging to the genus selected from the group consisting of Rhizopus, Absidia, Mucor, and Gongronella. The above microorganisms belong to Rhizopus oryzae, Rhizopus acetoinus, Rhizopus oligosporus, Rhizopus stronifa, Absidia coerlea, Absidia ramosa, Mucor luxianus, Mucor hiemaris, Mucor jamos, Mucor racemosus, Gongronerab Or a mutant thereof.
