abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the permeation of fuel when a fuel cell electrolyte membrane having a structure in which an electrolyte polymer is filled in the pores of a porous substrate is directly applied to a methanol fuel cell, and further has a low durability. To provide a highly productive and inexpensive electrolyte membrane. In an electrolyte membrane in which pores of a porous substrate 12 are filled with a polymer having an ion exchange group as an electrolyte polymer 13, only the portion contributing to power generation sandwiched between a pair of electrodes is ion-conducting portion. The electrolyte membrane has improved durability when operated as a fuel cell at the same time as suppressing unnecessary fuel crossover by making the periphery thereof a non-ion conducting portion.
