abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient and effective method for synthesizing a functionalized olefin copolymer having performance superior to that of a commercially available grafted functionalized olefin copolymer. An acylated olefin polymer is obtained by reacting an acylating agent with a mixture containing an olefin polymer having a number average molecular weight of about 5,000 to about 100,000 and a diluent in the presence of a free radical initiator. There is provided a novel highly grafted functionalized olefin polymer comprising the reaction product of a process comprising obtaining and further reacting with a polyamine to obtain a grafted functionalized olefin polymer dispersant. The Also provided are compositions comprising lubricating oil concentrates and highly grafted functionalized olefin polymers, and methods of their use. |
