PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescence device capable of obtaining blue light emission with high color purity by light emission at a short wavelength and a metal complex compound realizing the same. SOLUTION: A metal complex compound having a specific structure having a partial structure having a tridentate ligand, and an organic electrolayer in which an organic thin film layer composed of one or more layers having at least a light emitting layer is sandwiched between a pair of electrodes. In the luminescence device, at least one of the organic thin film layers is an organic electroluminescence device that contains the metal complex compound and emits light when a voltage is applied between both electrodes.
