An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a recombinant protein in the middle silk thread of a silkworm. A transgenic silkworm having a GFP whose expression is controlled by a promoter of a sericin gene was produced. As a result of observing the silk gland of the silkworm at the last age of the silkworm, fluorescence was observed only in the middle silk gland. It was also found that GFP was secreted from cells of the middle silk gland from the spinning stage, and GFP migrated into the glandular cavity. Eventually, GFP was spun as a silk thread, and a silkworm containing a large amount of GFP was made. From this, it was found that a recombinant protein can be produced in the middle silk gland by using the promoter region of the sericin gene. It was also found that the recombinant protein produced in the middle silk gland was easily secreted into the lumen of the middle silk gland. [Selection figure] None |
